IDEA World Fitness Convention

Went down to the IDEA World Fitness Expo on Thursday, it was AMAZING!!! I went with another trainer and friend and we had an absolute BLAST!!! As soon as we walked into the hall we were overcome with joy, so much fitness stuff in one place. We were like to kids in a candy store. The first thing we saw was a TRX Suspension Training demo going on, we ran over and asked if we could jump in and they said, “go ahead”, so we did. Oops! I may have forgot to mention that as we were parking the car we both talked about how starving we were and that we’d definitely grab a bite when we got inside. Well, that all went flying out the window when we saw the TRX. After a grueling workout that included atomic push ups, inverted rows, suspended crunches, and squats, we went off on a quest to find some food. Well, that didn’t last long because we kept getting side tracked by clothes and new fitness equipment. We decided that we had 15 minutes until the next The KRANKcycle® demo so we walked over to GRAVITY® and ended up doing a 40 minute demo thanks to my friend Neil, who was doling out the punishment. GRAVITY is like the Total Gym on steroids. You can customize the level of the machine up or down to increase/decrease resistance, use the bottom platform to do jump squats, and use the side bars to do pull-ups! It’s an amazing piece of equipment that I wish I could have at home or at the gym where I train clients but at $3,500, it will be awhile before I can pick one up 😉 After GRAVITY, I got pulled over to the K-SWISS booth where I ended up picking up a pair of their new TUBES Run 100 shoes. I was really surprised at how comfortable they are and the black and pink is just too cute!

Did I mention we still hadn’t eaten? So, we walked up one of the aisles and found they were giving out samples of PureFit Nutritionbars. OMG! They are delicious! I tried all 4 flavors but the almond crunch is my favorite of them all. Should have bought a box but didn’t 😦

With renewed energy, we walked over to the back corner and found Jukari Fit to Fly. Reebok partnered with Cirque du Soleil to develop this workout. And as luck would have it, we got on the stand-by list and made it in to the 45 minute class. We reached into our goodie bags and pulled out our samples of 5-Hour Energy, guzzled them down and we were ready to go! The class was so much fun, I felt like a little kid running, jumping, and spinning around from this trapeze looking apparatus that was hanging from the ceiling. I could not get the smile off of my face even when we had to remove the bar and add the foot cradles to the bottom of the straps for suspended push-ups and hamstring curls. The class was a total blast and I know it will be in your gym very soon. The other thing that made this class so cool was that Tamilee Webb of Buns/Abs of Steel fame was right in front of me! She still looks amazing and she was very sweet too! I still have my old Buns of Steel VHS tape lying around somewhere. After 45 minutes of flying around, we were spent and in desperate need of food. Bad trainers going without food for hours on end!

There was only an hour left of Expo time so we ran around like chickens with our heads cut off looking for cute clothes to buy and ended up leaving the hall after they turned the lights out to let us know it was time to leave. Sadly, we left the hall but happily went about finding our dinner destination.

Can’t wait for next year’s convention, it’s scheduled for Downtown LA which is a little closer to home so I’m thrilled! Even so, we decided that we’re definitely staying for 2 days next time. There is just no way to see and experience everything in one afternoon.

Until next year…
